Frequently Asked Questions

Which network will I run on?

Due to the vast nature of Earth, it is impossible to predict which network you will be connected to.

We have roaming agreements in over 194 countries worldwide.  You will always be connected to the best network in your area.

What are Network Priority Levels?

In order to maintain a fair and balanced connectivity experience on our network we take the following factors into account when we determine the Network Priority Level of your package:

  1. Price – The more you pay the higher your network priority
  2. Type of service.  Uncapped will never get a Priority of 1 as these are reserved for Capped accounts.

Network Priority Explained:

Network Priority can be viewed as a virtual queue.  When the network is busy you will be behind a level higher than you to have your data request fulfilled.

Eg. Capped users which has a Network Priority of 1, will always receive preference over a Network Priority 2 and so on

What is a Roaming eSIM?

A Roaming eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to access mobile data services without needing a physical SIM card, offering a convenient solution for travelers. By using a roaming eSIM, you can easily switch between different network providers across countries without replacing your SIM card, ensuring connectivity while avoiding high roaming charges. This technology supports seamless international travel by enabling smartphones and other devices to connect to local networks at local rates, improving accessibility and cost-effectiveness of mobile data usage abroad.

Will it work on my Watch?

If your watch is eSIM compatible, it most definitely will.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a form of programmable SIM card that is embedded directly into a device. Unlike traditional SIM cards, which come in physical form and need to be inserted into a device, an eSIM is built into a smartphone, smartwatch, or any other connected device during its manufacturing process. This allows the device to connect to a mobile network without needing a physical SIM card.

The main advantages of an eSIM include the ability to switch carriers without having to obtain a new SIM card, making it easier for users to manage their mobile service plans. It also supports multiple accounts, meaning a single device can have more than one phone number or account associated with it. For devices like smartwatches, which have limited space, eSIMs are especially beneficial because they take up less physical space than traditional SIM cards.

The use of eSIM technology is supported by many mobile network operators around the world, and it’s becoming increasingly common in the latest models of smartphones, tablets, and wearable technology.

Can I use this product on a router?

No.  This product will only work on a phone that has eSIM capabilities.  No physical SIM is available for this product.

What speed will I get on the Vodacom eSIM?

Speed is reliant on your coverage and which router or phone (device) you use. If your coverage is great, you will get great speeds. On Average users on 4G get between around 10Mbps and 50Mbps speeds.  If you have a 5G router or phone and are within an Vodacom 5G coverage zone, you can get theoretical speeds of up to 200Mbps!

I have used up my data, can I topup?

You most definitely can! Simply drop our OpenWeb Mobile Service Champions a mail on [email protected] to get you loaded up.

What our clients have to say

Top Service and Delivery – Big Thumbs Up. Try these guys out, really went above and beyond to get my parcel to me on time even though I live in an area that couriers do not like to go to most of the time. I felt like I was informed all the way and feedback time usually pretty quick. By far one of the best tech companies I dealt with in South Africa.

I have been using OpenWeb for the last 8 years. I have my 14 x branches across South Africa using a variety of ADSL & VDSL products from the company. I would just like to say thank you for being such a superb partner over the years. Oh and the gift you sent me for my birthday was such a surprise!

Sean Jooste

Guys, thank you so much for the help last week. Leon spent almost 3 hours on the phone with me trying to sort out my internet. Guess what, it was a fault on the router which we identified. I am so grateful for the wonderful service you provide. No company can match the level of care you have for your customers!

Dineo Moeketsi

Hey OW, remember when I emailed you last week about the Fibre trucks installing Fibre in my area? Well, it turns out that the truck was for me! My new Fibre line is up and running and I am sitting here watching a download peak at 99.8Mbps! To say I am happy is an understatement of note! Best wishes, your customer for life, Rowan.
