Downloadable eSIMs and eSIM routers

Choose a downloadable eSIM for your compatible, unlocked device, an eSIM-compatible Wi-Fi router for R1999 each or a portable battery-powered MiFi router for R1499 each. Order through the Shared APN Manager wizard and supply delivery details for hardware. Each router includes free eSIM pre-configuration and one assigned eSIM slot for the initial prepaid bundle period. Standard allowance slots renew at R35 per term thereafter; fixed-plan SIM limits still apply. Router delivery takes 6-14 working days due to high demand, including backorders. Data bundles are separate. Your new paid bundle can wait Paused with its full countdown until you press Start. Email [email protected] for assistance.

Uncapped IoT, trial and shared allowance plans

Standard allowance plan slot rules: Five free eSIM creations are a once-only allocation per new client, not per group or renewal. Paid slots cost R35 each per 30-day term, with no pro-rata discount when added partway through a bundle. Slots expire with the main data bundle; unused paid slots also renew. Renewal uses your Credit Wallet, never an automatic card charge. If data or slot renewal cannot be paid, all group eSIMs are suspended. After three days of suspension they are permanently terminated: a new group and paid eSIM slots are then required. Unused free creations are forfeited after termination. Topups do not extend the main bundle or slot expiry.

Standard and trial allowances use cost-derived deductions; uncapped plans have no data cutoff. Bundle usage is calculated from provider-reported charges, not measured internet traffic. The cost-derived adjustment is recorded in Usage transactions. The applicable minimum deduction rule may result in a higher deduction; adjustments are not added or multiplied together. Pricing and exchange-rate inputs are fixed for each paid term. Reporting can lag by 10-15 minutes or longer.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include calling or SMS?

This service uses downloadable eSIM profiles and is data-only, with no calling minutes or SMS. Choose /apn for local South African calling, SMS and 5G data bundles.

Can I use my own device or order an eSIM-compatible router?

How long does a bundle last?

New paid bundles stay Paused with their full countdown until you press Start. Uncapped plans and standard shared allowances then last 30 days; the R449 trial lasts seven days. You can prepare your eSIMs before Start. Once started, the clock cannot be paused or reset. Existing active terms and automatic renewals keep their timing. There is no pro-rata discount or calendar-month cut-off. Unused allowance expires without rollover.

Which devices can use a global eSIM?

Use an unlocked device that supports installing a downloadable eSIM profile. For vehicles, trackers and M2M equipment, check the specific modem and eSIM compatibility first. Not every IoT device can install a smartphone-style eSIM.

Where can teams connect?

Our eSIM plans work in 218 countries and territories. Open /sharedapn/countries for the complete list, real flags and per-GB rates. Local network coverage, compatible devices and roaming rules apply. Rates vary by destination and network.

Are the shared bundles unlimited data?

The three Uncapped plans have no data allowance cutoff during paid access. Uncapped - 512k costs R1999 with up to ten eSIMs and uses the supported 500 Kbps provider limit; Uncapped - 1Mbps costs R3499 with ten eSIMs; Uncapped - 2Mbps costs R4499 with fifteen eSIMs. Speeds are up to the purchased limit and subject to coverage and network management. Standard full-speed bundles and the trial have cost-derived allowances instead.

Can I change an uncapped SIM's speed or set a cap?

No. Uncapped plans have a fixed purchased up-to speed and no per-SIM data caps. You can label, pause and resume your eSIMs. These plans suit IoT/M2M sensors, meters, telemetry and small regular updates; confirm the exact device supports installing an eSIM. They are not a promise of uninterrupted connectivity or suitability for high-bandwidth video.

How does the seven-day trial work?

Pay R449 for 10GB of cost-derived shared allowance and up to five eSIMs, with all five creations included. Once depleted, buy another R449 trial, then press Start for a fresh seven-day term. Unused allowance does not roll over. Provider-wallet handover may take about 20 minutes. Use a new group to move to an uncapped or standard allowance plan.

Is a private network or static IP included?

No private VPN, private routed APN or static IP is included in these listed bundles. Shared APN Manager refers to OpenWeb's group and allowance management, not a dedicated private network.

How is bundle allowance usage calculated?

Uncapped plans have no GB allowance deduction or data cutoff. For standard and trial allowances: Bundle usage is calculated from provider-reported charges, not measured internet traffic. Higher provider charges consume more allowance. Country/network are not reported with a usage reading and are not inferred. Existing paid terms retain their accepted calculation.

How many eSIMs can I assign to a group?

Uncapped - 512k and 1Mbps allow ten eSIMs each; Uncapped - 2Mbps allows fifteen. All of these creations are included during the promotional period, until further notice. The trial allows five, all included. Standard allowance groups have no OpenWeb limit on total eSIMs, with five free creations once per new client and extra slots at R35 per term. Deleting a profile does not restore a free creation. Unpaid renewal suspends the group; after three days, profiles are permanently terminated.

How do payments and renewals work?

Pay for a bundle or topup with your APN credit wallet or directly through Netcash Pay Now. You can also add wallet credit. New bundle purchases wait for your Start command. On your first purchase or after expiry, prepay one, two or three consecutive 30-day bundles. Each future bundle activates when the preceding term ends, not when its data is used up. Opted-in wallet renewals continue automatically. We do not debit your card automatically.

Can I top up my data?

Yes: 10GB for R390, 20GB for R599, 60GB for R1800 or 120GB for R3600. Each topup expires 30 days after purchase, even while waiting to be used. Main-bundle data is deducted first, followed by unexpired topups in expiry order. Topups do not extend the main bundle's expiry.

Will I receive usage and expiry alerts?

We email at 50% and 90% main-bundle usage, when available data is depleted, two days before expiry and when data expires. Each message has a private sign-in link to your manager for topups and renewals. Alerts depend on provider readings, which can be delayed.
