Shared APN questions

What is a Shared APN?

APN stands for Access Point Name. It connects a SIM to an IP network for data access. With a shared data bundle, the SIMs provisioned for that bundle draw from one central data allowance instead of each receiving a separate allowance.

Is the data allowance per SIM or for the whole bundle?

It is the total for the whole bundle, not per SIM. A 50GB bundle provides 50GB shared across its linked SIMs. It does not provide 50GB to each SIM. The same applies to the 100GB and 200GB bundles.

How does shared data work in practice?

For example, start with a 50GB bundle. If one SIM uses 10GB and another uses 5GB, they have used 15GB together. That leaves 35GB for the linked SIMs to share. The allowance is not multiplied by the number of SIMs.

How many SIMs can I link to one bundle?

Each bundle supports 1 main SIM and up to 9 additional SIMs, for a maximum of 10 SIMs in total. All three bundle sizes have the same ten-SIM limit.

What if I need more than 10 SIMs?

You need a second bundle. An eleventh SIM cannot be added to the first bundle, and choosing a larger data allowance does not increase its ten-SIM limit.

How do IoT and M2M use a Shared APN bundle?

Internet of Things (IoT) examples include sensors and telemetry devices sending readings. Machine-to-Machine (M2M) examples include connected machines and remote equipment exchanging status reports. These uses can draw from a shared data bundle when the devices have compatible cellular hardware and linked SIMs. Check device compatibility with OpenWeb before ordering.

What does Corporate SIM Management mean here?

It means grouping the SIMs used by your team and company devices into one monthly bundle with a shared data allowance. Each bundle has 1 main SIM and up to 9 additional SIMs. More than 10 SIMs require a second bundle.

Is Shared APN data uncapped?

No. The monthly data allowance is 50GB, 100GB or 200GB in total, depending on your bundle. All linked SIMs draw from that allowance; it is neither uncapped nor a separate data allowance for each SIM.

What is included in the monthly bundles?

R2999 per month includes 1000 All Network minutes, 50GB of shared data and 1000 SMS. R3999 per month includes 2000 All Network minutes, 100GB of shared data and 2000 SMS. R5999 per month includes 5000 All Network minutes, 200GB of shared data and 5000 SMS. These are bundle totals, not separate allowances for each SIM.
